About the festival
The Ganggyo National Heritage Night focuses on actively utilizing historical and cultural resources and spreading popular value, breaking away from the existing framework that emphasized preservation. It aims to build a network that connects the dispersed modern historical resources in the Ganggyo area, encouraging visitors to experience the entire Ganggyo as a vast historical and cultural space. This event unfolds under eight themes: night scenery, night routes, night history, night flowers, night stories, night snacks, night markets, and night stays, with a total of 30 detailed programs. First, the night scenery and night routes enhance the physical and psychological accessibility to historical and cultural resources by illuminating the night landscape of the Ganggyo Modern History and Culture Street with scenic lighting and media art. Visitors naturally immerse themselves in the historical space while strolling at night. Night history, night flowers, and night stories reinterpret the historical narratives and values of modern heritage in Ganggyo through contemporary performances, exhibitions, and experiences. By conveying the value of national heritage, which may seem difficult to grasp, through intuitive and engaging content, it secures historical popularity and widely disseminates its value. Finally, night snacks, night markets, and night stays are operated based on collaboration with local businesses and residents. By linking Ganggyo's specialties and food with local shops, it increases visitors' stay time and completes a virtuous cycle structure where the networking of dispersed historical resources leads to the revitalization of the local economy. As a result, the eight nights and 30 programs are expected to inject modern vitality into Ganggyo's national heritage, serving as a key driving force to provide visitors with a differentiated night cultural heritage experience.
