About the festival
The Gimhae Buncheong Ceramics Festival is a ceramics and culture festival held in Gimhae, a leading production center for buncheong ware in the early Joseon period. It is a signature Gimhae festival that carries on the value of traditional ceramic culture, reinterpreting and presenting it in a contemporary way. Now in its 31st year, the festival offers a variety of programs, including exhibitions and sales of artworks, hands-on pottery-making activities, and pottery demonstrations, allowing visitors to experience up close the distinctive beauty and artistry of Gimhae buncheong ceramics. Visitors can admire the unique works of local ceramic artists all in one place, and experience the appeal of buncheong ceramics in an easy and enjoyable way through hands-on programs where they can touch the clay and make pottery themselves. The festival also offers activities, performances, and events for children and families, with programs for people of all ages to enjoy together. It is a participatory cultural arts festival that helps traditional ceramic culture become part of everyday life.
