About the festival
The Asan Hero Admiral Yi Sun-sin Festival is held annually around the birthday of Admiral Yi Sun-sin with the purpose of reviving the spirit of patriotism and loyalty. It takes place at famous sites in Asan-si and honors the spirit of Admiral Yi Sun-sin, a national hero, allowing participants to learn about the trajectory of his life through various programs. Since its inception in 1961 under the name Onyang Cultural Festival, it has been held every year and was renamed the Asan Hero Admiral Yi Sun-sin Festival in 2004.
