About the festival
The 24th Buyeo Seodong Lotus Festival in 2026, themed "The Beginning of Love, Drenched in Lotus Fragrance," will grandly unfold the beautiful love story of Princess Seonhwa and King Mu of Baekje, along with the history and romance of Gungnamji, known as the best artificial pond in our country. Gungnamji is a representative historical and cultural space where one can feel the garden culture of Baekje and the dignity of the royal family, and in summer, ten million lotus flowers bloom in the pond, creating a spectacular view. During the festival, visitors can stroll along the wide paths of blooming lotus flowers, reminiscing about the legend of the love between Seodong and Princess Seonhwa, and enjoy the beauty of Buyeo, where the breath of Baekje lives on. The Buyeo Seodong Lotus Festival is a representative summer festival of Korea, featuring a variety of content such as lotus flower appreciation, night landscape lighting, cultural performances, experiential events, local delicacies, and family programs. During the day, one can enjoy the pure beauty of the lotus flowers, and at night, the fantastic atmosphere of Gungnamji, providing special memories for people of all ages. In the summer of 2026, one can experience the unforgettable emotions of the festival at Buyeo Gungnamji, where love and fragrance, history and romance come together.
