The 2026 festival food offerings are currently being updated.* The “City of Fire and Light,” Pohang hosts the Pohang International Fireworks Festival every year, a signature cultural tourism festival. The festival began with a fireworks show held in 2004 to commemorate Pohang Citizens’ Day, themed around the “light” of industry, symbolizing the world-renowned steel city of Pohang, and the “fire” of its blazing furnaces. Since then, it has grown into an international-scale festival, presenting a variety of attractions, including an international fireworks show featuring renowned teams from around the world. In recent years, it has expanded beyond fireworks-centered events to offer diverse content combining industry and culture, such as media façades and nighttime parades. It has also developed into an interactive festival where residents and visitors can enjoy Pohang’s coastal scenery and urban spaces together, establishing itself as a leading cultural tourism festival that strengthens the city’s brand and competitiveness in nighttime tourism.
