About the festival
The Miryang Arirang Festival is held to inherit and develop the Miryang Arirang, which was registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2012. It began in 1957 as the Miryang Cultural Festival and has established itself as a representative local festival of Gyeongsangnam-do, featuring the Miryang Arirang competition, Arirang experiences, and various traditional cultural experiences. The highlight of the Miryang Arirang Festival, the Miryang River Odyssey, is a fantasy musical that combines the history of Miryang, which has continued for thousands of years, with the Miryang Arirang, captivating audiences with its stunning performances, beautiful music, and engaging storytelling.
