About the festival
The Chilgok Nakdong River Peace Festival commemorates the historical significance of the Nakdong River Battle, which was the last line of defense during the Korean War, and aims to reflect on the spirit of patriotism. It remembers the values of the Republic of Korea that ordinary people risked their lives to protect in 1950 and operates various programs to express gratitude to those who defended the country. The thirteenth festival in 2026 will feature performances, participatory experiences, and food programs centered around the theme of peace, while under the slogan 'Boys Become Boy Soldiers,' it will highlight the existence of young soldiers who were relatively overlooked in the narrative of the student soldiers, thereby enhancing the festival's historical and peaceful message.
