About the festival
The Gumi Ramen Festival is a signature local festival that uses ramen as its theme to connect Gumi’s industry, food culture, and regional tourism. Gumi is home to the Gumi plant of Nongshim, one of Korea’s leading ramen companies, and is developing ramen as a tourism attraction based on its industrial foundation in ramen production. The festival takes place throughout the old downtown, including Gumi Station, Yeokjeon-ro, Munhwa-ro, Geumridan-gil, and Saemaeul Jungang Market, making the entire city center part of the festival grounds. Major programs include the Ramen Restaurant, Freshly Fried Ramen, Godland, the Global Ramen Challenge, Robot Chef, and Slurp Lounge. Visitors can experience the diverse flavors and culture of ramen through the Ramen Restaurant, which showcases ramen dishes from across the country, and programs where they can taste freshly fried ramen. Local restaurants and businesses also take part, connecting the festival grounds with the old downtown and helping revitalize the local economy.
