About the festival
Artist Choi Young-wook's work always starts from a fundamental question. "What traces does life leave, and where do those traces flow?" He has explored this question under the name 'Karma' for over 20 years. Karma is not just the title of a simple series but a central concept that drives his artistic world, an attitude towards existence, and a structure that defines how to relate to the world. For the artist, the line of the moon jar is not a mere reproduction of actual cracks but a drawing that contains his own story, and in the way the lines meet, part, and reconnect, he reads the cycle of life. In this process, he obtained the title 'Karma', which embodies the belief that a life lived earnestly ultimately returns positively rather than remaining in a specific religious interpretation. This exhibition is composed of four sections: exploration, discovery, internalization, and expansion. These four journeys transcend formal divisions, representing the flow of thought that crosses the artist's 30-year body of work and visualizing the trajectory of his artistic life as it has matured. The audience facing the exhibition can follow the artist's journey, recall their own karma, and have a quiet time reflecting on their own lives as they delve deeply into their inner worlds. This exhibition aims to be a small opportunity to open the door to such contemplation.
