About the festival

At Andamirogwittae Museum, we introduce the shining teapot and teacup captured in the canvas of famous paintings, along with the warm breath of life contained within. The late 15th century, the Age of Exploration in search of spices, became a route that transported not only the mysterious tea leaves of the East but also the exquisite aesthetics of the vessels that held them to Europe. Artists of the time began to capture the vibrant warmth flowing through the warm teacup and the moments of joyful teatime in dazzling colors on their canvases. This exhibition offers a unique experience that goes beyond the landscapes of the canvas, allowing visitors to encounter the actual teapots and teacups held by the protagonists in the paintings. From the mysterious warmth conveyed by William McGregor Paxton's 'Tea Leaves' to the splendid silver teapot appearing in Mary Cassatt's 'The Tea', we hope you will experience the moment of relaxation with a cup of tea felt by the characters in the famous paintings with vivid presence.
