About the festival
Ginseng is a representative health food of Korea that helps with recovery of energy and enhancement of immunity. The Punggi Ginseng Festival is vibrantly held in Yeongju, one of the notable ginseng producing areas in Korea, during October, which is the time when ginseng has the most nutrients. True to the festival's theme of ginseng, which symbolizes health, it features health-related exhibitions and experiences that anyone can enjoy, regardless of age. Special programs include the Gae Samteo Rite, the reenactment of the Jusebung County Governor's procession, and the Great Ginseng Ceremony. Visitors can taste ginseng dishes made from nutrient-rich Punggi ginseng, and also participate in fun experiences related to Punggi ginseng, such as ginseng peeling. Additionally, local ginseng farmers offer fresh ginseng, red ginseng, and processed ginseng products at affordable prices.
