About the festival

When spring arrives, the first to burst into yellow blossoms and herald the beginning of spring outings is the Cornelian cherry, which dramatically conveys the warm energy of spring. Particularly, Hwajeon-ri, located in Sagok-myeon, Uiseong-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, is the largest Cornelian cherry spot in the country, with over 30,000 ancient trees that have endured for more than 300 years, forming a natural grove. Every spring, the entire village is dyed in golden hues as if yellow paint has been poured, and breathtaking views resembling an Eastern painting unfold wherever one looks. The highlight here is undoubtedly the fantastic contrast of colors created by the green garlic shoots and the yellow Cornelian cherry blossoms. The 20-ri path of Cornelian cherry blossoms, created by the vibrant green of the garlic fields and the lush yellow of the Cornelian cherries, offers deep emotional resonance to those who walk it. Stepping away from the busy daily life, as you walk with your beloved family, precious partner, or like-minded friends, feeling the Cornelian cherry petals fluttering in the spring breeze, you will soon sense the warm energy of spring seeping into your body and mind. Spending time in Hwajeon-ri Cornelian Cherry Village will become a special journey that engraves unforgettable memories of spring days deep in your heart beyond simply enjoying the scenery.
