The 2026 Gwangju Gastronomy Week is a culinary festival that connects the rich food culture and local gastronomic resources of Jeonnam Gwangju with vibrant tourism content. Ingredients, food, people, spaces, and culture are linked by a single thread, allowing for a three-dimensional experience of Gwangju's unique gastronomic ecosystem. From masters and artisans who have preserved local flavors for a long time to young chefs who reinterpret traditional tastes sensually, and gastronomic activists who contemplate ecological values, they all gather in one place. It offers a special journey that goes beyond simply tasting food, expanding the narrative of local stories through ingredients that become dishes. The opening ceremony, held at the serene Hanok Oga-Hall, marks the grand start of the festival. The Gwangju Gastronomy Week 'Discount Week', taking place from October 2 to October 11 for just 10 days, collaborates with the Blue Ribbon Survey, a representative restaurant guide of South Korea, to provide verified restaurant explorations and special benefits. Additionally, the 'Yangrim Spoon Week' will be held in the Yangrim-dong area, where history and culture breathe, to focus on introducing Gwangju's excellent gastronomic establishments to citizens and tourists. As a sustainable gastronomy event, it presents 'See, Eat, Learn Gastronomy', which allows for diverse values and new attempts in food culture to be experienced in various ways, and 'See, Eat, Learn Vegan Gastronomy', which explores eco-friendly food culture that embodies environmental and ecological values. During the festival period, a promotional booth will be operated at the National Asia Culture Center during Asia Culture Week to promote the charm of Gastronomy Week, and an online event that anyone can easily participate in will also be held to further enhance the festival's excitement.
