About the festival

The 2026 Hongseong Baekban Festa is a signature local food festival showcasing a variety of dishes and cultural experiences made with Hongseong’s fresh local produce and regional specialties. Now in its second year, the festival takes place at Gwangcheon Cultural Market, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary, bringing together the region’s traditions and contemporary food culture. Highlights include signature baekban, baekban dumplings, seaweed and salted shrimp pancakes, Hongseong garlic hotteok, and Gwangcheon seaweed cream shrimp—distinctive dishes that offer a fresh take on Hongseong’s agricultural and seafood products. Visitors can also discover the new potential of local food and creative ideas through dishes developed by local young entrepreneurs. Beyond the food, the festival offers activities for all ages, including a Gwangcheon seaweed snack-making workshop, a Hongseong Hanwoo mini-burger cooking class, and the Hongseong Treasure Hunt Challenge, as well as exhibitions, busking performances, the “Hongseong Baekban Six Flavors Puzzle Tour,” and more. Held in conjunction with the 100th-anniversary celebration of Gwangcheon Cultural Market and the Gwangcheon Seaweed and Salted Shrimp Festival, it brings vitality to local businesses and promotes Hongseong’s rich food resources and cultural value. It is a festival where visitors can experience Hongseong’s flavors and character with all five senses and enjoy the region’s distinctive food culture.
